3.Maldon by Steam Train.
Wednesday September 12th. 2018
MEMBERS traveled on a vintage steam train for an exciting day out ? Using the free ticket from the Government, members traveled to Castlemaine on a V/Line train, where they changed trains, to then travel along the picturesque rail line to the historic town of Maldon.
There they had time to enjoy lunch and explore the shops, before returning to the station to take the steam train back to Castlemaine, and then the V/Line train to Southern Cross Station. Steam train fares cost $45.00 p.p concession with a tour discount of around 25% as the club had more than 20 participants. The train departed from Castlemaine at 12.00 noon, and from Maldon at 2.45 pm
3. Coach trip to Arthurs Seat june 14th
Members were picked up by coach at the Horticultural Centre at 9.30 am and taken to Sorrento where they enjoyed morning tea. The group then continues on to Arthurs Seat where they all enjoyed a ride on the “EAGLE” (the chair lift) down to the bottom point where they returned to the coach and then dr0ve to the Rye Hotel to enjoy a two course lunch
4. Yarra Valley Chocolaterie Monday 20th August
Members enjoyed a visit to the “Chocolaterie” located in Old Healseville Rd. Yarra Glen. There we enjoyed a tasting of the various gourmet chocolates which are manufactured on site. Lunch & a dessert were enjoyed, plus you had the option to purchase ice cream or cakes. A large range of their chocolates were available to purchase. chocolates were rather expensive though.
April 2017 Puffing Billy train trip
The outing on the Puffing Billy train by the Combined Probus club of Blackburn South Inc. was also featured in the April 2017 edition of The Probus South Pacific magazine “Probians”
ST. KILDA CEMETERY – June 16th 2017.
Members participating in this tour, learnt about various individuals connected with Ned Kelly’s trial and execution, plus 2 mystery graves at the cemetary
PARLIAMENT HOUSE – JULY 2017
28 members travelled to Parliament House for a tour of the chambers of Parliament, followed by lunch in the “Members dining room”.
The group heard about the functions of the different houses and enjoyed briefly sitting in the seats of the Politicians. It was a most enjoyable day out
STOKES MUSEUM Ken Pakes 9897 3454 September 2017
12 members only participated in a second tour of the stokes museum. The museum has grown considerably since the last visit.
